Flower Keychain

June 3, 2014 By Corina 5 Comments

Flower of Dreams Keychain

I needed something to attach to my keys and help me find them while I dig aimlessly through my purse.
I didn't want to use my ugly keys for the photo so I used one of the “magic keys” I ordered my daughter online. She is waiting patiently to discover a magic door to test her keys on. Her brother Brennan is fascinated by the keys as well, so we have decided to start collecting neat and unique keys. Have fun with this beautiful keychain flower pattern– and just in case you want your own magical keys ๐Ÿ˜‰ my amazon link will be at the bottom of the post.

Stitches
CH- CHain
SC- Single Crochet
HDC- Half Double Crochet
TRE- Treble Crochet

Supplies
#1 Super Fine yarn ( I do not know the brand of mine. It was donated to me.)
3.25 mm crochet hook
Key chain ring
Yarn needle

Stem
Row 1: CH 21. Skip 1 CH. HDC into the next 20 CH. CH 1 Turn. (20)
Row 2-3: HDC into each stitch across. CH 1, turn. (20)
CH 5 and slip stitch into the same stitch. Now you have a loop at the bottom of your flower stem for putting it onto a key chain.
Finish off leaving long tail. Use this tail to attach the sides of row 1 and row 3 together.

Flower
Row 1: CH 35. Skip 1 CH, SC into each CH. (34)
Row 2: CH 1, Turn, SC into first stitch. **Skip  1 stitch. {3 TRE into next stitch. CH 2, Slip stitch into the top of TRE, 3 TRE into same stitch}, skip 1 stitch. SC into next stitch. Repeat from ** across for 8 flower petals. Slip stitch into last stitch.
Finish off leaving long tail for putting the flower together and attaching it to the stem.

To put the flower together, put the yarn end through you yarn needle.
With the yarn needle, go to the opposite side of your crochet peace.
You will be weaving your yarn needle back and forth through the SC of row 1.
Make sure you start on the opposite side from your yarn tail.
Once you reach the other side, pull your tail carefully.
Put your flower stem through the middle of the pedals. You will want the stem sticking through the top about 1/4th of an inch.
Pull your tail a little bit more snug.. and carefully.
Now using you yarn tail and yarn needle, secure the flower petals around the stem.

Love your tiny key chains! Hope its okay with you that I got some ideas for gifts. Also a couple years ago I crocheted a tiny pair of baby girl shoes and made it into a key chain for my niece. It’s a copy of a pair I made for her as a baby and she’s trying to get a keychain of every pair of shoes she ever wrn and she loved it.
