Can you imagine my excitement when I received an email from one of the people who work behind the scenes at All Free Crochet? They offered to send me yarn- if in return I would review the yarn and write a pattern for them.
Who doesn't love yarn?
A week later the mail man knocked on my door. The second we calmed down from our panic of hearing the loud knocking (we do not get much company haha) we raced for the door. When I opened the door to see the box, I knew what it was. 😀 I barely got the door shut before I ripped it open. My daughters eyes lit up with yarn love even more than my own eyes!!! <3
I pulled one of the skeins out, sniffed it, rubbed it on my cheek, then handed it over to my daughter. She asked me if I would make something for her. (as if I never do 😉 )
I played with the yarn for a couple minutes but it didn't take long before I knew it was the perfect yarn to make something that drapes. For more information on the yarn, check out my Bernat Satin Yarn Review!
A couple sketches later, I came up with a design. The way I start each ruffle… in my opinion is pure genius but maybe I am just boastful. 🙂 For a copy of the free pattern and all the details, view the Ruffle Crochet Skirt on All Free Crochet!
Please share the pattern with every hooker you know! Help me spread the crochet love <3
Charming Skirt! In the pattern it say’s Girls(small) what size would that be? How old is your daughter and what size does she generally wear? I really appreciate the help as I would Love to crochet this for my 4 yo Granddaughter and need to see where I would have to make adjustments. Thank~you also for introducing me to ‘all free crochet’!
Fondly, Nancy
My daughter is 3 but she wears size small in girls.. about 5-6. Size 4 is too small for her. If it is big at all you could also put a ribbon around the waste, but with the stitches used the waste stretches in and out well. I considered calling it a small-medium.
So cute -wish I had a little girl to crochet it for!
jolie cette petite jupe volantée bravo et la couleur est jolie a bientôt biz
Congratulations!! Beautiful skirt
I love this skirt and am so ready to purchase the yarn to make one for each of my girls. If I was interested in making it larger on the waste at what point in the pattern would I do so? I read that it is worked from bottom to top so would I have to change something in part 5?
Thank you for your time and an amazing pattern!
In the beginning of each ruffle, where you make the Chains and TRE’s- you will want to add a couple more of those. At the end, if you need to decrease more you can… or you can just also add a ribbon back and forth around the waste.
Love the skirt. Thank you so much for sharing!
Thank you for such a cute pattern!
So cute, are you considering adapting it to baby/toddler sizes? Would be so cute on the little ones too!
I’m an adult and I want one for ME!!!!!!♡♡
I thought the same thing! hahaha. I would just make the starting row of each ruffle about 4X the size.. or more. It would take a lot of yarn.. but it would be so pretty!
