Simple, Easy and Quick Arm Warmers

December 18, 2012 By Corina 27 Comments

simple- quick- easy -arm warmers

My sister requested a set of arm warmers for Christmas. I started to follow 3 different patterns… but had small issues with all of them. I was hoping to get by without the need to design a crochet pattern until after the holidays but these arm warmers were calling out my name. And in order to have the second one match the first, I had to write it out!  These arm warmers are designed to do exactly what they are, keep your arms warm. These will come in handy when the clouds have dropped a blanket of snow onto your driveway and you have to shovel your way out.  They will also be handy if my sister ever decides to become a bag lady 😉

This free crochet pattern is simple, easy, and quick to work up! The words I try to live by when possible. Enjoy this free pattern! Happy hooking!

Is there a pattern for arm warmers for toddlers? I just know my 3 yr old granddaughter would just love a pair!

Not yet but it would be really easy to adjust! Just start with fever chains to be perfect to fit around her hand with a little stretch 😀

These are pretty awesome, but either I’m reading the pattern wrong, or your count is off… Starting 19 – There are only 21 stitches in that round, not twenty-two. (I just want to make sure that it’s right). Please help!

I counted the CH 2 as a stitch.

No problem! I had to go look at it haha. It has been a year since I wrote this one. If I could do it over I would make it in continuous rounds.

Okay, another question (I’m so sorry… I don’t mean to do this, but I really want to make these since they’re the best I’ve seen so far), Round 21 – there are only 9 stitches after the 2 DC in one space?

I see what you mean. I fixed the pattern to join at the top of first DC. 🙂 Thank you for pointing that out! Hopefully it will be a breeze for you from here on out.

I loved this pattern!!! by far it is the best yet. I was on a crocheting frenzy during the holidays made three other fingerless gloves from two different patterns. Thought I was done making them then I found yours. So easy! I did not make mine all the way to the elbow just to the forearm, but I think several more pair will be nice. these are also great for cyclist. 🙂 Happy hooking!

So, I’m a plus size lovely lady and I don’t modify things like this often.
I could extend the pattern, just by adding even amounts in the chain?
Any help is appreciated. I love the pattern! Thanks for sharing.

Yes 🙂 That should work just fine. to be honest… when I make them now, what I do is make a Foundation Single Crochet long enough to go around my hand… do a couple rows of HDC then I will make a CH space in a HDC round wide enough for my thumb. In the next HDC round you will make a HDC over the CH for each CH you made… then you will continue in rounds of HDC for the length you need.

I LOVE this pattern too! They fit me perfectly! I want to make a pair of these for my partner for the holidays, but her hands and arms are bigger than mine. Any suggestions how to keep it a secret but size it correctly?

I would just start with a few more chains/stitches. And then however many you add on, add those to the end of each round. It will work up the same but larger.
OR, you could find a little thicker yarn, and maybe go up a hook size.

I LOVE this pattern! I have searched through MANY arm warmer patterns and this is the first one that I loved from start to finish and at first glance!
I worked a FSC (Foundation Single Crochet) in the beginning (rather than the chain and round of single crochet) to make it more flexible.
I also found my favorite length is mid forearm (9″) and to do this, I worked Rounds 1-19 followed by Rounds 28, 29, 30.

I don’t think I’m doing the join correctly. I sc across the ch and should have 23 sc. Then exactly how do I join? Do I slip stitch into the 1st sc?

Yeah, you are right. That is how you join.

    Hi! Love this, thank you!
If I were to make a pair for my preteen niece, would just dropping a hook or 2 sized work just fine?

How much yarn, roughly, would you say this pattern uses?

Hi, I’m working my 18th round right now and as I continue to read the pattern over and over, I’m wondering where I make a thumb hole? please help! also, is round 1 the top or bottom of the wrist warmer? I made mine a little larger because I am plus size but I notice that the last rounds are increasing, so I’m not sure if I measured wrong

On rounds 5-10 where you do not join, it leaves and opening for your thumb.

I am making a pair for tween. Very skinny tween. Will these fit her around the arms, or do I need to take them in?

I’m adding fan edging and lace up ribbon for my goth daughter. I love the shaping of this pattern. Excellent designing. Thanks!
