Toddler Fingerless Gloves

October 13, 2013 By Corina 17 Comments

Toddler Fingerless Gloves

I designed this free Fingerless Glove pattern to match Ella's new Kitty Cat Hat. After finishing the first glove she snatched it out of my hand and put it on. She ran to her room and got her Leg Warmers I recently made her and put them on too. Then she came back to me and informed me she was missing a glove. Ha! I had to finish them right away! Making my daughter crochet items is so rewarding – especially when she is begging for me to take pictures ๐Ÿ™‚ But today was a little sad for me….realizing how much she has grown up! Where did my baby go?

Supplies
Medium weight yarn -I Love This Yarn – “Tropical Pink”
Yarn needle – for weaving in ends
I/9-5.50 MM crochet hook

Stitches
FSC – Foundation Single Crochet
SC – Single Crochet
Slip Stitch
HDC – Half Double Crochet
CH – Chain

You will be working in continuous rounds. You may wish to use a stitch marker. I like to use my started yarn end to mark my spot at the start of each round.ย

Let's Get Started!
Round 1: FSC 19. Join to first FSC.
Round 2-4: HDC into next 19 stitches
Round 5: SC into next stitch. CH 3. Skip 3 stitches. SC into next stitch. HDC into next 14 stitches.
Round 6: HDC into next stitch. 3 HDC into CH space. HDC into next 15 stitches.
Round 7-20: HDC into the next 19 stitches.
Round 21: SC into next stitch. Slip stitch into next stitch. CH 1. SC into same stitch and SC into next 18 stitches. Join to first SC.
Finish off and weave in your ends.ย
Repeat for second glove.ย

It is more like medium – worsted. I’m not sure how thick uk dk is. If you need to adjust the size just start with less or more FSC. It is a really easy pattern and it shouldn’t be hard at all to adjust if needed.

They are so quick to make! Did you change the size or did they fit well as is? I wanted to test them out on my nieces but haven’t had the chance.

It’s more snug on the 6 year old, but should fit her great all through this winter. They work up very quickly! Will keep this in mind for birthday and Christmas gifts : )

Absolutely adorable! I see this being very popular for holiday gifts as well as all the time use.

Made these and the leg warmers for my grand daughter and she just loved them, she is 4 and right now going through a stage where she wears her fingerless gloves or I should say wears one (ala Madona) gotta love the little ones! The pattern is very well written and very easy to follow!! ๐Ÿ™‚

Just make your starting foundation chain the right size to go around your hand ๐Ÿ™‚ remember they will stretch with ease since it doesn’t use the basic chain as the starting row ๐Ÿ™‚

I would like to make some of these for my five-year-old niece. However she lives in another state so I don’t have anyway to try them on her. What do you suggest I do to ensure that they will fit her properly?

My 5 and 7 year old nieces have actually tried these on and they fit them. But they were snug. I would probably add about 3 more stitches to your starting FSC. ๐Ÿ™‚

When I follow the pattern my rounds tend to look a bit off, but straightened out by the end of the project is that normal? Am i to chain any before going into the 19 sts?

You only CH if the pattern says to.
You do not join at the end of each round.. could that be your problem?
