When thinking up this Toddler Shell Beanie pattern, I was planning on adding ear flaps, braids, and a flower. But I decided to leave it as a beanie because the shell stitch is so pretty on its own and with the way I changed colors, I didn't want it to be too busy. I may try this again sometime just using one or two colors.. and then adding the braids and flower.

hello, I have tried to copy/paste this FREE pattern as well but it won’t let me. Christine
You shouldn’t need to copy and paste. There is a print and PDF option at the bottom of each post. You may need to click the left side of the button if the “pin it” option pops up.
I enabled the copy and paste so people would not copy my patterns for sharing instead of sharing links to my site.
Hello
so I’ve started this pattern and my OCD is kicking in on round 4 do I truly do a 5dc shell the first time and then a 3dc shell around? This seems inconsistent to my brain so I’m just checking to make sure that’s what you meant or if it was a typo. 🙂
Thanks
Amanda
Ps love the hat!
Oh wow. This is such an old pattern I had to go look! Yes, I believe it is a typo. I fixed it. Please let me know if everything works out from here on out 🙂
Oh thanks for replying so quickly! I decided to go with my gut and knowledge of crochet and I went ahead with the 3dc all the way around. 🙂 love the hat I used a pink blend and I’m putting crochet hearts on it for valentines day my little girl loves it and I’ve got lots of compliments from your pattern! Keep up the amazing work!
