My Christmas list is getting shorter. Slowly, but its finally starting to come along. This crochet bear hat is very easy and quick to work up. If you haven't noticed, I am going through a pom pom craze 😀 Have fun hooking this one up!

Row 9: Turn, SC in next 3 stitches, finish off

Using tan yarn

SC around the edge of the hat, Join to CH 1. Finish off

Ears:

With Tan Yarn
Magic circle, CH 2, 10 HDC inside ring, connect to top of CH 2
CH 2, 2 HDC in each HDC, connect to top of CH 2

With Brown Yarn
Magic circle, CH 2, 10 HDC inside ring, connect to top of CH 2
CH 2, 2 HDC in each HDC, connect to top of CH 2

Put the tan circle on top of the brown circle, Joining them together from the tan side with SC, Join to first SC  (making it so the brown is on the back of the ear and also the edges, while the tan yarn is on the inside of the ear.)

Finish off and repeat. Attach with yarn needle

Braids:

With tan yarn, cut three 4 ft long strands of yarn for each braid. Attach yarn to center of the row 11 of the ear flap (folded yarn makes 6 strands per braids) Braid tightly your desired length. Tie at the end of the braid and repeat for other braid.
Pom Poms:
With tan yarn make two pom poms. I used a small box of crayons, wrapped the yarn around it (short ways) about 77  times each.  I used crochet thread to tie the middle of the yarn and to attach the pom poms after cutting the loops and shaping them.

There is nothing in the pattern to show what the 2 buttons are for.

Ha, Not needed. Thank you for bringing that to my attention. I was thinking about adding buttons for eyes and making a face but decided against it 🙂

It’s easy to adjust the size. You can add one more increase round before continuing to the repeat round. Or you can follow the base of this hat and then come back for the ears and pom poms. 🙂 http://stitch11.com/6-months-sock-monkey-hat/
