0-3 Month Elf Hat

November 7, 2012 By Corina 16 Comments

This free crochet pattern, for a 0-3 month Elf Hat, will be so adorable as a Christmas photo prop! Have fun with this YARNTASTIC holiday pattern!

Supplies

Medium Weight Yarn (I used a combination of Redheart and I love this yarn) ~Dark Green, Light Green, White, and Red
5 mm  Crochet Hook
Crochet needle (just for weaving in ends and attaching pom pom)

Stitches

Finish off

To make the pom pom I actually used a flyer that came into the mail. I wrapped each color around it 20 times  (one color at a time) Took the yarn off the flyer and tied in the middle.. cut loops and the sewn on the pom pom.

I also think a bell would be super cute instead of a pom pom. And I had even thought about adding a large  button to  the front of the hat.

Click the PDF or PRINT icons that are located at the bottom of the post. If the pin in option pops up, just click to the left of it to avoid pinning.

I made this yesterday. I don’t know how to show you on here so, I will share it with you on facebook. I decided to make it child size but it ended up adult size and I also added trim.

Hi if I was to make bigger I know for the tail i would just continue patter n until lengthened like I like’ but when it comes to the 2hdc,hdc4in next and repeat to the 7hdc next stitch, would u start at 3in next or start at 4 and repeat to 8 instead of stopping at 7?

When it says 2 HDC in next, then HDC in each of the next 4… the next round you will do 4 HDC, then HDC in next 5. 🙂 Hope that helps.

Hello I’m a beginner and I know this may sound dumb but was wondering what does these ** mean?

The ** marks the spot that you will come back to for repeating the steps. Most designers use one *.. but I find two ** to be easier to see 🙂

I just made this and it is too stinking cute! I actually only did 10 rows for the tail and made it into a knot instead for my niece who is about to be born! I wanted to make a replica for her sister that is 2 1/2. I don’t even know where to start when it comes to making it bigger! Help!
