Beautiful and Simple Scarf

October 17, 2012 By Corina 14 Comments

The holidays seem to be sneaking up and I am nowhere near prepared. For the next few months I will be working on Christmas gifts for my family. I will share what I make with all you hookers <3 To start off my holiday spirit I made my very fist scarf! Hoping to have many more free scarf crochet patterns to follow!

Supplies:

4ply Medium Weight Yarn (I used pink and green Simply Soft)
M/ 9 mm Hook

Stitches:

CH – Chain
HDC – Half Double Crochet

Color Guide:

Color A = Pink
Color B = Green

TIP # 1: Make sure you chain your starting chain loose, or use a size larger hook for your chain.

Tip # 2: When switching colors, leave a tail and do not weave it in.. you can disguise it into the fringe knots at the end.

Get Started:

Using both Color A and Color B

Row 1: CH 120 (or your desired length) TURN, CH 2, HDC into each stitch across. Turn

Using Color B only

Row 2: ย CH 2, HDC into each stitch across. Turn

Using Color A and Color B

Row 3: CH 2, HDC into each stitch across. Turn

Using Color A only

Row 4: ย CH 2, HDC into each stitch across. Turn

Using Color A and Color B

Row 5: ย CH 2, HDC into each stitch across. Turn

Using Color B only

Row 6:ย CH 2, HDC into each stitch across. Turn

Using both Color A and Color B

Row 7: ย CH 2, HDC into each stitch across. Turn

Using Color A only

Row 8: ย CH 2, HDC into each stitch across. Turn

Using both Color A and Color B

Row 9: ย CH 2, HDC into each stitch across. Turn

Using Color B only

Row 10: ย CH 2, HDC into each stitch across. Turn

Using Both Color A and Color B

Row 11: ย CH 2, HDC into each stitch across. Turn

Finish off

Fringe:

I cut 9 inch pieces and tied 4 strands (folded making 8) into the side of each HDC/CH 2 along both ends of the scarf. To attach the fringe I inserted my yarn into the end post of the scarf, yarn over, pull through creating loop. pull yarn ends through loop (including tails from changing colors.)

    Pretty scarf; dumb question.

When you switch to a single color, are you using two strands of that, or just one?

This is a really cute pattern. I make a ton of scarves for survivors of domestic and sexual abuse, so I’m always looking for new ideas/ patterns. I would love a copy of your pattern so that I could make some up ( I have a terrible memory, lol) but I’m not on Pinterest so I am unable to copy it! Why are you only allowing that option? It would be great if I could at least cut and paste if a pdf wasn’t available. Sorry to moan and groan. I just like the pattern and would like to point it out to others that crochet scarves for my charity.

I’m going to fix the buttons as soon as possible. But for now, if you want to print it, click the left side of the print button at the bottom of the post.. the pin it option doesn’t cover the left side. I don’t know why that pops up :/ If that doesn’t work for you, you can hit CTRL- P to print. And if that doesn’t work either let me know. ๐Ÿ™‚ Sry for the difficulties..

I make hats, scarves, and gloves for a group called “Hats for the Homeless” . This scarf will be perfect. Since this program was started in Chicago, the deaths from exposure was cut almost 50%. Thank you so much for this pattern.

I love the look of this. I plan to make an infinity scarf using this pattern. And also going to try an afghan for both of my sons for Christmas using their college school colors-red and black, and trying to add in the accent colors of gray and white. Wish me luck. Thank you for sharing this beautiful scarf!
