Christmas Stockings – Free Crochet Pattern – Review

Stitch11 Red Heart Stocking Review - Christmas Crochet

Since before learning to crochet, I have needed to replace our Christmas stockings crochet. Every year I check all the local stores in hopes of finding the *perfect* Christmas stockings. They are always the typical thin red and white fluff,  stanta boot looking stockings. So, time and time again, replacing the stockings have been put off…
NOT THIS YEAR!!!!

Stitch11 Red Heart Christmas Stocking Review - Free Crochet Pattern

While scrolling through patterns on Redheart.com I discovered this beautiful gem of a pattern! The first half of the pattern is worked in rows instead of rounds. I thought about changing it to rounds to make it simpler, but I worried about it affecting the shape of my stockings. Besides, sewing up the side really isn't much work.
The only thing I did differently with mine was the toe portion. On the decrease rounds, I did 4 decrease stitches each round.
I used the medium size stocking. I'm sure my kids would have been thrilled if I used the large… but the medium seems to be the ideal/typical stocking size.
I've considered using the smaller size stocking for all of our pets!
For my yarn colors and choices… I used all Red Heart Yarn products. Mostly crocheting with Red Heart Super Saver, but pairing it up with Red Heart with Love and Red Heart Sparkle.

My favorite things about this design, it's so simple! If you follow Stitch11, you know I love simple! It also works up fairly quick. If you are anything like me, you can easily work up one of these a day. If you are like those magical speedy hooker unicorns I see all over the internet, you could easily work up two or three of these a day!!!
You still have plenty of time to replace your stockings before inviting the family over on Thanksgiving!

Happy hooking and happy holidays!
