Magic Circle
SC -Single Crochet
SC DEC – Single Crochet Decrease
HDC – Half Double Crochet

Tip: When changing colors mid-way through a round/row, before you pull your yarn through your last stitch, switch colors and pull it through the two loops. This will not count as your first stitch of your new color. It will give your stitches a clean color change.
You will carry the color you are not using along by crocheting over the yarn strand.
If this is confusing – Check out this tutorial by Moogly. Although please note- with this your will crochet over the unused yarn instead of dropping it behind the stitches.
-Note- The tail of this skunk is made the same way as the Fox Tail from my daughters Fox Halloween Costume.

Making the Skunk Tail
The first thing you will need to do is look at my review for the Fox Tail. You will be making the skunk tail the same way. But, you will be tying the yarn on in the skunk tail pattern (with a white stripe down the middle). You will start with a 5 inch braid using 6 strands of the black medium/worsted yarn.
-Attach the tail using your yarn needle.
-Cut felt into the shape of a heart and hot glue it on for the nose.
I am always looking for skunk patterns. I rescued 7 skunks from the skunk rescue here in Florida and I donate regularly. They have a show every year in Lake Buena Vista and I donate what I make to them for raffles I look forward to making this for the show this year, it is adorable….all the raffles proceeds go to the care of the unwanted Skunks…..Della
Della, my husband and I rescued 5 toddler skunks once. One sibling had been killed by a cat, and the mother had been killed by a car. They’re such amazing little animals aren’t they? mountainstormhawk at gmail dot com
I am trying this skunk pattern because I need 1 for a friend of mine but I have to say the pattern has mistakes in it….. I’ve done the body and the head so far and the head u wrote row 5 twice and then u left out row 7 which kinda confused me until I realized that I was done row 7 and was onto row 8…. and then just a bit of criticism on the head since a real skunk doesn’t have as much white as u did in the pattern as well as the pattern looks like the white twists…. so the skunk looks a bit twisted…. but I am not using the same fluffy yarn as u did so can notice the white pattern a lot more…. well still happy I could find a free pattern for a skunk but I may need to do a second 1 and modify the white a bit…
I almost didn’t even share this pattern to be honest. I didn’t have time to make another and the yarn I used was a PIA. I’m honestly shocked I took the time to attempt to share the process bc I was in misery the entire time. 😉
