Monkey Plastic Bag Dispenser

This monkey design was inspired by my favorite work at home blog. Wahadventures.com uses a cute monkey logo that made this plastic bag dispenser unique and absolutely adorable.

Abbreviations:

CH – Chain
DC – Double Crochet
SC – Single Crochet
HDC – Half Double Crochet

Supplies:

Four colors of worsted weight yarn. Pink, Blue, Gold, and a small
amount of Gray.
Size I and F crochet hook
Hair tie
Yarn needle

Get Started!

Round 1: With size I crochet hook attach Gold yarn to hair tie, CH
1, 30 SC around hair tie (I used a large hair tie and folded it in
half) Connect to CH 1

Round 2: CH 2, 1 DC in eash SC around, Connect to top of CH 2

Round 3: CH 2, *2 DC in first stitch, 1 DC in next 2 stitches*
repeat from * around. Connect on top of CH 2

Round 4: CH 2, *2 DC in first stitch, 1 DC in next 3 stitches*
repeat from * around. Connect on top of CH 2

Round 5-8: CH 2, DC in each stitch around, Connect to top of CH2

Change color to blue

Round 9-10: CH 2, DC in each stitch around, Connect to top of CH2

Change color to gold

Round 11-24: CH 2, DC in each stitch around, Connect to top of CH2

Change color to blue

Round 12-15: CH 2, DC in each stitch around, Connect to top of CH2

Round 16: CH 2, HDC in each stitch around, Connect to top of CH2

Round 17: CH 2, DC in each stitch around, Connect to top of CH2

Round 18: CH 2, HDC in each stitch around, Connect to top of CH2

Round 19: CH 2, DC in each stitch around, Connect to top of CH2

Round 20: CH 2, HDC in each stitch around, Connect to top of CH2

Finish off

Ears

Supplies
Size F hook
Pink and blue worsted weight yarn
1. Make Magic circle with pink yarn, CH2, 7 HDC in circle. Connect
to top of CH 2
2. CH 2, HDC 2 in each stitch around. Connect to top of CH 2
3. *2 HDC in next stitch, 1 HDC in next* Repeat from * around
4. *2 HDC in next stitch, 1 HDC in next 2 stitches* Repeat from *
around
5.*2 HDC in next stitch, 1 HDC in next 3 stitches* Repeat from *
around

Change color to blue

6.*2 HDC in next stitch, 1 HDC in next 4 stitches* Repeat from *
around
7. CH 1, SC around, Connect to CH 1

Finish off, leaving long tail to stitch onto bag dispenser and
repeat for other ear. Attach ears to the bag dispenser with yarn
needle

Nose

Supplies
Size F hook
Pink Yarn

1. Magic circle with pink yarn, CH 2, 8 HDC in magic circle, Connect
to top of CH 2. CH 1, SC in first 3 stitches, 1 HDC in next stitch,
SC in next 3 stitches, 1 HDC in next stitch, Connect to CH 1.
Attatch to bag dispenser.

Bow

Row 1: (leaving 10 inch tail) CH 12 with pink yarn, DC in 3rd CH
from hook, DC across

Row 2-8 : CH 2, DC across

finish off (leaving another 10 inch tail) Weave both tails to edge
of the center of the bow on both sides and wrap the tails around the
middle to gather it like a bow. Attach above monkey ear

Mouth

With size F hook and gray yarn
CH 30. Slip Stitch down CH. finish off.. attatch to bag despenser
with yarn needle (use picture I posted above as a guide)

Eyes

With size F hook and gray yarn
Magic circle, CH 2, 10 HDC inside circle, Connect to top of CH 2.
finish off. Repeat for other eye. attach to bag dispenser using my
picture as a guide.

Drawstring

Using size I hook and pink yarn
CH 100 (or the length you would like it to be)
Slip stitch down the chain
Cut yarn but do NOT finish off
Weave drawstring in and out of Round 17
Connect both sides of the chain
Finsh off
Fill up with plastic bags

Wa-Lah! You now have a Wahadventures monkey plastic bag dispenser!!
