Slip stitch into the TR. Slip stitch into both chains of CH 2. Slip stitch into starting stitch (bottom of heart) Finish slip stitching into each stitch around the crown. Finish off and weave in your ends.
Attaching Crochet Crown To Hat
Slide your crown over the beanie. Be sure to line up the seams so that the seams from the beanie and the crown and lined up on the back of the hat. Also make sure you still have a row of SC from the beanie showing under the crown. You will need this row to attach the hair. With yarn needle and yarn to match the crown, attach the crown in the back 4 or 5 stitches, and in the front 5 stitches. The reason you do not attach the entire way around is so that the hat will still be able to stretch around the head if needed.
I also used a small amount of pink to secure the center of the heart on crown to the beanie.
Add some yarn braids!
Cut 30 strands of yarn about 3 feet long.
Starting at the stitch next to the seam attach yarn into each stitch for 15 stitches. Repeat and do the same on the other side of the seam for 15 stitches. I attached 1 strand of yarn into each stitch (folded making 2t strands)
To attach the yarn, Fold the yarn in half and insert your hook from the inside of the hat out (on bottom stitch of the hat) Hook your yarn where its folded and pull through to form a loop. Yarn over and pull the strands of yarn through the hoop.
Using the seam as a divider, braid both sides.
I used small hair ties instead of tying knots at the bottom of the braids.
I want to make this hat for a gift and do not have a Hobby Lobby locally. Is it found elsewhere or specific to HL? I looked on their website and cannot find it. Is there something you recommend that is similar by another brand?
Its really just a basic medium weight acrylic yarn thats softer than redheart. I would feel safe using any medium weight besides Simply Soft bc it tends to work up a little tighter than the other medium weights.
Great thank you!
Soooo darn cute!!! thanks for sharing this pattern with us!
HI 🙂 I have been LOVING your free patterns however, I cannot figure out how to copy them so that I can print them. Could you possibly send me a PDF file or just a Microsoft office document of this pattern as well as the Baby owl set with the hat, leg warmers, and diaper cover?? PLEASE!! I really LOVE your work. Thank you for sharing!!!
Nevermind! 😉 …..I figured it out! That was a big….”duh” moment! LOL Thank you again for the free patterns! You have awesome work! 🙂
Bhahah! Thanks! Glad you got it!
Thanks so much! This is absolutely as cute as can be.
Your patterns reference ‘magic ring’. What is the stitches necessary for this magic ring? I try to click on the highlighted words and it takes me to other websites and not to what you are referring to.
This is how I learned the magic ring 🙂 Hope it helps! https://stitch11.memberhost.io/magic-circle/
What is the gauge for this hat?
I just measured hers.. 7 DC = 2 inches. 5 rows = 3 inches.
I would like to make a matching one for my 5 year old daughter as well, how would I go about increasing the size?
Really you could use your favorite beanie pattern. Then make sure you make the crown with Foundation Single Crochet and make it have the same starting stitch count as the beanie is around. 🙂
Hi…just found your site and I’m tickled pink! Darn it all though, I clicked on CleanPrint so I could print it up and not crochet from my computer (I always end up crocheting…and surfing…and getting in lost in both) but it wouldn’t load and then I got a Server Error 500 on two different pages. I looked it up and it said that there is probably something wrong with the server the page is on. Do you know if there’s a problem with the server?
I did sign subscribe (yay!) and bookmark your site so I don’t lose you but I would be ever so grateful if it were possible to check to see if there’s a prob with the server. Thanks so much for your wonderful patterns you provided…just terrific!
May I ask what browser you are using? yesterday I was having trouble signing in on my site through Chrome. I am still in the process of finding out what the issue is. If you are on Chrome.. could you try it through another browser and see if it works? Let me know 🙂 ty!!
Absolutely gorgeous! I am hoping to get into the Craft Fair scene soon and wonder if I would be allowed to sell these?
I truly love knowing others make a little income selling the things they create with my patterns 😀

I would love to see it! If you have a photo you would like to share you can share it on my Facebook page. https://www.facebook.com/stitch11page
I love you pretty princess hat…is there any instructions to making it for a toddler…my sister who is a newbie to crocheting would love to make this for her g-daughter and I am not close to help her
There is a similar one linked at the top for a toddler princess hat with braids.
Are you crocheting this with a double or single strand of yarn? You don’t mention double stranding in the baby one (although you do in the todler version) but the picture kind of looks like it might be. Thanks!
Single strange with the newborn size. They are completely different designs just with the same theme. 🙂
