It depends on what kind of yarn you are using… If you are using ILTY then yeah, it would be the XL version. The I Love This WOOL yarn would be for med-large

I just go to 60 stitches and don’t go up to 70 for large instead of the extra large pattern and I use I Love This Yarn and it works perfectly!!

Hi, I had a question about the beard. What size did you make here? The large or extra large? Did you do the detachable or is it sewn into the hat? Do you know what changes to made to get the popcorn stitches along the mustache part? Thanks!

I followed the “large” size exactly other than making the chains shorter on the sides (that loop around your ears when wearing it)

I used a 6.0 hook and this hat became EX which was great for my husband because he has long thick hair. It was also nice because it was long enough to make a nice cuff to flip up. The pattern was easy enough that I could concentrate on the Half Double stitch which because of lack of use is harder for me. Thanks for the excellent pattern.

I like this pattern, but I wanted to attach the beard to the hat. It worked okay, but I had quite the time trib
ng to get the entry hole big enough to go over his head. I am still looking for a hat aad beard attached pattern Thanks

I think you mean toque. A toboggan is a sled.

Wish I found this sooner. I could’ve made a homemade beard! I got my bf a crocheted beard hat from Beard Head last year, and he loves it so much! On a side note, I completely agree with you on fun homemade gifts! They’re always a great gift to give! 🙂
