The Perfect Rainbow Pet Net Hammock

July 30, 2015 By Corina 24 Comments

This pretty pattern isn't only lovely to look at. It also has a lot of other purposes, including keeping those messy toys off the floor. It's also one of the best ways to make use of those yarns you want to get rid off! See it come to life with the free pattern below or get the ad-free printable PDF pattern here.

This Toy Net Hammock crochet pattern is a cute hammock where you can place all the sweet stuffies. Instead of the stuffed toys hogging the space on your child's bed, shelves, or floor - you can rest them all on this pretty rainbow hammock! #crochet #crochetlove #crochetlife #crochetaddict #crochetpattern #crochetinspiration #ilovecrochet #crochetgifts #crochet365 #addictedtocrochet #yarnaddict #yarnlove

A few days ago, my daughter came to me and asked me to “please get rid of my creepy dolls.” She was quick to explain that she didn't need creepy dolls because she has so many stuffed animal babies.  Within twenty minutes she comes back to inform me…. she needs *another* crocheted toy net hammock.

I was quick to jump at this request because I desperately needed to update my previous crochet hammock. So really, this is *Take Three* of attempting the perfect hammock. I feel as if I finally did it! One that I am truly proud of designing and sharing with all of you…. for FREE! 🙂

The Perfect Rainbow Pet Net Hammock Crochet Pattern has now arrived.

Special Stitches:

Foundation Single Crochet (FSC): Ch 2, insert hook into 2nd ch from hook, yo, pull up lp, yo, pull lp through 1 lp (base ch made, 2 lps remain on hook), yo, pull lp through 2 lps on hook (First FSC complete). Insert hook into base ch of last FSC made, yo, pull up lp, yo, pull lp through 1 lp (base ch made, 2 lps remain on hook), yo, pull lp through 2 lps on hook (FSC complete). Repeat from * for desired number of FSC.

Notes:
If you want to adjust the size, make your starting FSC in a multiple of 5 +1. You can change colors before any odd numbered row (the rows with chains) to make whatever color pattern your heart desires.

If/when you change colors, attach the yarn into the center hdc.

Each row with 5-hdc groups will decrease by 1 group of 5 hdc every other row.

If you enjoy working with a variety of crochet stitches, I highly recommend the Ultimate Crochet Stitch Library which includes 45 professionally filmed stitch tutorials.

My guess would be one skein of Red Heart Super Saver or I Love This Yarn from Hobby Lobby.

Can you tell me roughly what the dimensions should be? I made one to give as a Christmas gift, but it seems like it is to small to hold much.
    Thanks so much!

I don’t think the count is right when it comes to the ch 4 sk 4 sc. I have 40 spaces.

This pattern looks great! I have a question: for row 4, why do we slip stitch for the first seven SCs, but not at the end for that side’s 6 SC loop? I tried it because it looked more complete but that put me a stitch or two off.

Not sure what I’m doing wrong, my “triangle” is extremely lopsided. I’ve tried twice and both times same problem.

I’m confused on row 3. What chain does the extra 6sc go into? I’m really confused.

I just found your pattern and I must say it is great, it covers 2 different thing for me, because my non binary 15 year old has a ton of stuffies and we are always adding more now I can make a bunch of hammocks and have more floor room in her room Thank you for being so kind to share it for free, she is going to love it.
A couple of weeks ago we had gone out and bought all those colors for me to make her a new blanket and I’ve got enough left to make three hammocks for her, and now it looks like I’ll be buying more yarn tomorrow!!! 🙂

This question has been asked before but the answer was not available. What are the dimensions of the pet hammock?. It looks big but someone remarked it worked up small!
