This toddler sun hat crochet pattern is a simple and appealing design – perfect for your little ones when you're headed to the beach.

After making the 6-9 month and 12-18 month sizes for this sun hat, I knew I would be making the toddler size.  This hat is just too cute!!   Hope you all enjoy this free pattern made by your very own Stitch11. Also check out the child and adult sizes.

Just curious what is the difference between connecting and joining?

This one, the toddler size, should fit your 18 month old from now and for the next couple years. The child size, http://stitch11.com/sunshine-sara/, will be great for a 4 year old.

Just had to share, I am close to 72 and have been crocheting for nearly 50 years. We share our anniversary with our granddaughter. We took her and her daughter, age 2, out for dinner & Krystal asked me if I could make Mackenzie a sun hat from a picture. Of course I was gung ho for the challenge. I have been playing with it all day & got to the brim and couldn’t see the picture very clearly. So, I decided to go searching and was luck enough to find your pattern which is he exact hat. When we get home I plan on returning to your site and following your Stitch11. Thank you so much for sharing!!!

I think it would, but I wouldn’t know for sure unless I tested out the idea.

Hello, I’m just wondering if you by chance have any instructions to make this for a 3-6 month size?

The smallest I have is 6-9 months, but you could use a regular worsted instead of the cotton.. it would work up a little smaller. Here are all my sizes. http://stitch11.com/free-crochet-sun-hat-patterns/

Would the toddler version of this pattern fit a 18.5″ head measurement?

If you are using cotton, yes for sure. These hats run pretty big. But the yarn/ribbon around the hat prevents stretching.
So once you make the hat, just make sure you do your yarn/ribbon, the measurement you need.
