Pom Pom Cushion Crochet Pattern

Lately, I’ve been obsessed with pom poms!  They’re such an easy way to add some extra flair to any design.

That’s why I’m loving this Pom Pom Cushion!

It’s a decorative crochet cushion that makes an absolutely wonderful housewarming gift or statement piece for your home.

It’s a simple, straight-forward crochet pattern that has just the right amount of boho flair.

It’s worked up in the magic ring with the pom poms attached at the end.  It’s not too complicated either, which makes this an ideal crochet project for all levels.

I used Cascade Cherub DK in Mauve Orchid and Baby Pink, which gave this pillow the perfect amount of softness and boho color.

This light worsted yarn gives this cushion a beautiful stitch definition and is washer safe, so you don’t have to worry about any accidental spills.

It’s a nylon-acrylic blend, so it’s great for anyone who is sensitive to natural fibers, without sacrificing any of the softness.

Assembly:

Place pillow panels with RS together.

Whipstitch panels together around the edge, leaving a 6-inch opening.

Turn pillow RS out and insert pillow form or stuffing.

Sew the opening closed.

Evenly space pom poms along the seam. Use long tails to sew in place.

Weave in any remaining ends.

Adult Duo-Tone Beanie Crochet Pattern

If you’re looking for a bright start to those dull winter mornings, the Adult Duo-Tone Beanie is the perfect project for you.

It’s made out of a strong 100% highland wool yarn. It’s super warm and comes in a golden yellow color paired with a soft grey.

I love this hat because it’s the perfect gift for a friend who needs a little brightness in their life. A pop of color is a simple way to feel more energized and excited about the day.

It’s also so easy to work this beanie crochet pattern. You only have to work one color change and make a pom pom. Everything else is really simple.

This is a pattern you can sit back and make while watching your favorite show.

Make one for yourself or make a friend a special gift to let them know you care. It’s fast and easy to make, and really thoughtful.

And if you don’t like yellow, the Blue Sky Woolstok yarn comes in a bunch of other shades too. It’s all about making a hat you’ll love.

And that’s why we created this free crochet pattern, the cozy fall headband crochet project! There’s no reason for you to miss out on the fun with these simple and stylish accessories. (It is sized for both toddlers and adults if you decide to make some for someone other than yourself.)

The Cozy Fall Headband requires no special stitch, and is worked using single and double crochet stitches. And it’s crocheted as one long piece that can be tied and untied each time you wear it. That way it’s sure to fit you and your little one.

The knot at the top is a cute way to style this headband, but if you want a simple headband look you can twist it so that the knot is behind your hair.

It’s made out of 100% wool, machine washable yarn. And because of its soft texture, you get a beautiful warm accessory without any irritation. You could even make it a little wider to turn this into a crochet ear warmer pattern instead. Take a look at this simple and creative pattern today. It’s a perfect last-minute gift idea, or make some for yourself to go with all your outfits. It’s also a perfect to make for someone who’s just starting out with crochet.

The pattern:

Circle

With A, make a magic circle.

Rnd 1: Ch 1, 10 sc in magic circle, pull tail to close the magic circle, do not join. (10 sc)

Rnd 2: 2 sc in each st around, join with sl st to first st. (20 sc)

Pull working loop up big (so it won’t slip out) and remove hook, but do not fasten off.

Tassel

Wrap color B around 4 fingers 10 times. Cut through all layers, creating a bundle with10 strands of yarn about 6-8” long.

Cut another 8” strand of B and use it to tie the bundle tightly together at the center. With right side up on your circle, tie the string from the top of the tassel onto the working loop, then bring the tails back down to blend in with the rest of the tassel.

Put the working loop back on your hook, sl st in next st and fasten off.

Cut another 8” strand of B and double knot it around the top of your tassel, about ½ inch from the circle. Make sure to include all strands and tails of B in the bundle.

Trim tassel to make ends even.

Use pliers to open the ring on the earing hook and secure it into the top center of the circle, directly opposite the tassel. Close the ring again with the pliers.

Repeat instructions for 2nd earring.

Killer accessories can take your style to new heights. And with these earrings in your jewelry arsenal, everyone will be asking for pointers. Luckily, you can tell them about this pattern so they can take their style into their own hands too. You might even make some new friends in the process.

Cut about 25 4 foot strands of yarn and braid together to make a drawstring. Weave through round 48 and tie together.  When making my drawstring I ran out of sport weight yarn. So I added some pretty green cotton yarn to make my braid fatter. I actually wish I would have made it a little fatter and shorter to make it easier to carry. Make the length and width that you feel most comfortable with.

Where will you wear your bag? We want to know what kind of adventures you’re going on. The Momma Beach Bag Crochet Pattern is one to be shared, and we’re asking that’s just what you do.

If you took it on some place exciting – or maybe even just to the park on a picnic – snap a pic and share it with us. Then move on to your next crocheting project, because once you’ve been bitten by the DIY bug, we know just how hard it is to stop.

Simple Double Brim Hat

The simple double brim hat is – as it says – very simple: it’s entirely made of single crochet stitches which makes it a great project for beginners as well. The pattern works up quite fast because the hat is made with a big crochet hook. The hat keeps your ears double warm and looks great when using another color on the inside.

Retro Messy Bun Hat Crochet Pattern

This fun yellow hat will be sure to brighten up any gloomy day – even though you can choose whichever color you’d like. People won't be able to help but ask you where you go your cheerful crochet messy bun hat from.

In this easy to intermediate crochet pattern, you'll begin by creating the band. Next, you'll work your way up to making the rest of the hat and finally add whatever button you may choose.

If you feel apprehensive about taking on an intermediate hat pattern I can help you with my step by step crochet fundamentals videos. I teach you exactly how to crochet a hat (and other projects) to help you get started. Just need to brush up on your skills? No problem I have my essential skills course where you can review 72 crochet (& knit skills) that all crocheters need.

For yarn, we chose merino wool yarn because it's warm, soft, and breathable. It doesn't have any of that itchy and scratchy feeling you might associate with wool.

Wear this versatile messy bun hat on a trip to the mountains or outside on a chilly morning walk to keep you cozy. Ok, it's time to grab your yarn and let's get started. Time to add some cheer to the world, one stitch at a time.

BAND:

With A, ch 10

Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across. (9 sc)

Rows 2-28: Ch 1, turn, sc in blo of each st across.

Fasten off, leaving a long tail for sewing.

Fold band in half, overlapping the ends by about 4 rows, so that row 28 lines up with row 4.

Use tail to sew band together where these two rows meet.

The overlapping flap is now the RS of the band, and is where the button will be placed later.

HAT:

Do not join rnds unless indicated. Mark the first st of each rnd.

With RS facing, join B with sl st in the end of any row on band.

Rnd 1: Working in sides of rows, 50 sc evenly spaced around side edge of band. (50 sc)

Rnd 2: Sc in each st around.

Begin carrying A. When working a st with B, work over the color A yarn. When working a  st with A, work over the color B yarn. Change colors as needed by using the new color to  complete the last “pull through” step of the previous st.

Rnd 3: [Sc with B in next st, sc with A in next st] around. (25 sc with B, 25 sc with A)

Rnds 4-5: Sc with B in each st around. (50 sc with B)

Rnds 6-11: Repeat rnds 3-5 twice

Rnd 12: [Sc with B in next st, sc with A in next st] around, join with sl st to first st. (25 sc with B, 25 sc with A)

Fasten off both colors, leaving a tail of B approximately 45 inches long.  Turn hat inside out.

Sew long tail of B through each st of rnd 12 and pull tightly until opening measures about 3 inches in diameter.

Turn hat RS out.

Sew button to flap on band.

Rustic Love Slouch Crochet Pattern

January 21, 2018 By Corina 8 Comments

This one is a great stash buster! Maybe you can use your left over self-striping yarns, and make this unique hat with all those textures we love. It's also a great little number for both adults and kids! Make one for yourself, or a couple for your loved ones with the free pattern below or better yet, get the ad-free printable PDF pattern here.

Rustic Love Slouch Crochet Pattern

I had planned to make myself a new hat, but about halfway through, I couldn't decide if this should be MY hat or for my daughter. She is 7 now, and we can share hats! It seems that most children's hat sizes fit me and most small adult hat sizes fit her.  She is growing up so fast, it's not even fair!!! After taking the photo, she told me she wants to keep that hat for wearing to school… maybe next winter I will be able to take over and start wearing it myself. 😉

Need help with any of your crochet skills to make this pattern? Perhaps it’s changing colors, the magic ring, making pom poms or something else? I’ve put together a class designed to help you.  My Crochet & Knit Essential Skills class has 72 videos classes to help with any and every crochet (or knit) technique. What’s even better, I am giving you FREE access to watch these videos for 2 days! Register here now to gain instant access.

My goal was to use only one skein of Super Saver Stripes – Latte Stripes, but to make this hat have the perfect slight slouch to it and a large full pom pom, I had to bust out a second skein. I didn't even use half of the second, leaving you enough yarn to make fingerless gloves or an ear warmer set if you're looking to stay extra cozy!

Double Knot Beanie Crochet Pattern

I have exciting news! As many of you know from my very personal post, Gods Timing, my husband and I have struggled with fertility. To my little family's surprise, WE ARE EXPECTING!!! My 6-year-old daughter is beyond thrilled. My 15-year-old stepson is a little… eh, it's another girl… He might be feeling a bit outnumbered 😉 but we could not be happier!!

What does this mean for Stitch11?  Well, when I first taught myself crochet in 2012, my daughter was already a 1 year old. So… I've always kind of struggled with the Newborn/Baby themed patterns. Not anymore! 😉

For my first crochet hat designed with my baby girl in mind, I wanted to make a double knot beanie.  I want a newborn size, but keep in mind the size my older daughter was when she was born. I wanted to make sure this hat will easily stretch to fit a newborn with that not so little head.

To start this beanie, we will make the CH for the top of the hat and the knots portion first.

Step 1: CH 46. Join to first CH.

Step 2: CH 14. Turn. Skip 1 CH. SC into next 13 CH.

Step 3: Slip stitch into next CH from starting CH.

Step 4: CH 1. Turn. SC back up, into each of the next 13 SC.

Step 5: CH 1. Turn. SC back down, into each of the next 13 SC.

Step 6: Slip stitch into next CH from starting CH.

Step 7: Folding the starting CH flat, Slip stitch together the two sides, through the top loops of next 20 CH.

Step 8: Repeat steps 2-7.

Working in the bottom loops of starting CH, you will now work in the round. Round 1, in my opinion, maybe the hardest round of the pattern, only because you have to identify the bottom loops of the starting CH. Just remember they are on the opposite side as the slip stitch you joined the CH together with. Trust yourself, you got this!!

Round 1: Slip stitch into the 1st (nearest) bottom loop of starting CH.  CH 1. SC into same loop and into each of the next 45 loops. Join to first SC. (46 SC)

Round 2: CH 1. SC into each stitch around. Join to first SC. (46 SC)
Round 3: CH 1. HDC into first SC. Popcorn Stitch into next SC. *HDC into next SC. Popcorn Stitch into next SC. Repeat from * around. Join to first HDC. (46 stitches)
Rounds 4-17: Repeat rounds 2 and 3 seven more times.
Round 18: CH 1. SC into each stitch around. Join to first SC. (46 SC)
Round 19: CH 1. FPSC around each SC. Join to first FPSC. (46 FPSC)
Finish off and weave in your ends.
Tie a knot on both sides of the top of the beanie.

Christmas Stockings – Free Crochet Pattern – Review

Stitch11 Red Heart Stocking Review - Christmas Crochet

Since before learning to crochet, I have needed to replace our Christmas stockings crochet. Every year I check all the local stores in hopes of finding the *perfect* Christmas stockings. They are always the typical thin red and white fluff,  stanta boot looking stockings. So, time and time again, replacing the stockings have been put off…
NOT THIS YEAR!!!!

Stitch11 Red Heart Christmas Stocking Review - Free Crochet Pattern

While scrolling through patterns on Redheart.com I discovered this beautiful gem of a pattern! The first half of the pattern is worked in rows instead of rounds. I thought about changing it to rounds to make it simpler, but I worried about it affecting the shape of my stockings. Besides, sewing up the side really isn't much work.
The only thing I did differently with mine was the toe portion. On the decrease rounds, I did 4 decrease stitches each round.
I used the medium size stocking. I'm sure my kids would have been thrilled if I used the large… but the medium seems to be the ideal/typical stocking size.
I've considered using the smaller size stocking for all of our pets!
For my yarn colors and choices… I used all Red Heart Yarn products. Mostly crocheting with Red Heart Super Saver, but pairing it up with Red Heart with Love and Red Heart Sparkle.

My favorite things about this design, it's so simple! If you follow Stitch11, you know I love simple! It also works up fairly quick. If you are anything like me, you can easily work up one of these a day. If you are like those magical speedy hooker unicorns I see all over the internet, you could easily work up two or three of these a day!!!
You still have plenty of time to replace your stockings before inviting the family over on Thanksgiving!

Happy hooking and happy holidays!

Childrens Rosalina Winter Hat

October 30, 2017 By Corina 3 Comments

Getting tired of pompoms on your hats? Well, do we have the alternative for you! This pattern gives your ol' hats a twist and it's one anyone who sees the hat will truly love. See it for yourself with our free pattern below or get the ad-free printable PDF pattern here.

Rosalina Childrens Crochet Hat

It's that time of year again! I will admit, the only reason I get excited about the colder air flowing through, is because it means it's CROCHET SEASON and an excuse to wear cute hats!

My mini-boss is at it again…giving me all her demands! This little 6-year-old firecracker has the most amazing mind and creative ideas! I don't know what I would do without her.

This year she has requested a hat with roses. She didn't like the idea of a rose just being attached to the hat, no… she wanted roses to replace the pom poms! Brilliant!

For this crochet pattern, the hat portion is designed by me and is supplied below for free.  The rose crochet pattern is not mine and is a low-cost paid pattern found on Ravelry.

The Noso Rose is designed by Cynthia L. Green and can be found HERE. Read more about my experience with the rose during the rose portion of this pattern.

If you enjoy crocheting simple shapes like rectangles, you may want to check out our Crochet Anything with Rectangles class where you'll take the basic shape you already have down pat and turn it into useful, practical, and beautifully professional projects.
