Curtain Hugging Bear – Free Crochet Pattern

November 28, 2014 By stitch11 7 Comments

Curtain Hugging Bear

I had the opportunity to write a pattern for Stitch and Unwind! When I asked her if there was any theme of amigurumi she would like me to go with… she told me that “Woodland Creatures” are popular right now.

So many ideas ran through my mind! But trying to write a pattern that was easy to follow for all levels of crocheters is a main priority when I write patterns. I thought about making  a skunk, raccoon, and even a deer. But when I pictured the pattern process, I felt overwhelmed. So I went with an animal I was familiar with- a bear!

I didn't just want to make a bear though. I wanted to make something unique and fun. Somehow, a curtain tie back came mind. I felt like I was brilliant! 😉 Haha I couldn't be happier with the level of cuteness! Get your own copy of the free pattern >HERE<!

How to Crochet a V-Stitch Blanket

July 15, 2014 By stitch11 16 Comments

How to Crochet a V stitch Blanket

The V-Stitch is my go-to stitch when making blankets. It works up quickly and makes large holes. Large holes are great for reducing the risk of SIDS in babies and also great for those who love sticking their toes through their handmade blankets.

This is the 3rd blanket I have made like this.. and I want to explain to you how you can make your own- for any occasion.

You can use any weight of yarn you like depending on the type of blanket you are going for. I love to use worsted weight yarn because it works up quickly.

This is more of a crochet technique than a pattern, but once you’ve played with it with the yarn you want to use for your blanket you can figure out how many stitches you need for the size blanket you want to make and create a totally custom blanket!

Supplies
You can use any yarn and hook that you wish. I usually like to use larger hooks and med-worsted weight yarn. For this blanket I actually used I Love This Yarn and size P 15mm crochet hook.

Your starting FSC
I start my blankets with the Foundation Single Crochet. I learned how to do the FSC through THIS VIDEO by Moogly.

Your number of starting FSC will depend on what size blanket you want. To know how many FSC to start with, you will need to make your FSC in counts of 3 +4. If you decide to start with a Chain instead of FSC, you will just need to make your starting Chain in counts of 3 + 7. Those last 3 will count as your first DC.

Row 1
For the first row you will CH 3 for your first DC. Skip 1 stitch. {DC, CH 1, DC} all into next stitch**Skip 2 FSC, {DC,  CH 1, DC} into the next stitch. Repeat from ** across until you have two stitches left. Skip one stitch. DC into the last stitch.

Every Row after Row 1
For each row you will CH 3 for your first DC. Then you will {DC, CH 1, DC} into each V stitch. Then DC into the last DC. Turn.

Simple Border
For the border I put one Half Double Crochet into each of the FSC. When working up the sides of the blanket, HDC into the side of each DC and top of each DC. When working into the top of the blanket you will HDC into the top of each DC and into the middle of each V stitch. On the corners, I put 3 HDC.

Free Steering Wheel Cover Crochet Pattern

July 6, 2014 By stitch11 42 Comments

This Steering Wheel Cover crochet pattern will fit a wheel that's 47 inches around the outside with 4 inches in girth. You will need to adjust depending on the size of the steering wheel. #crochet #crochetlove #crochetlife #crochetaddict #crochetpattern #crochetinspiration #ilovecrochet #crochetgifts #crochet365 #addictedtocrochet #yarnaddict #yarnlove

If you follow my blog, you already know that I bought a new/used vehicle. I recently wrote out a free console cover crochet pattern.

Now it is time to cover the cut up steering wheel!
I did a quick search for free patterns but to my surprise, there really are not any to choose from. So here I am, with my yarn, hook, and the Moogly Griddle Stitch Tutorial pulled up. If you are not familiar with this stitch, go ahead and check it out before starting. (Yes, I write the posts as I crochet the item)  🙂

First thing is first, measure your steering wheel. I just took a piece of yarn and wrapped it around the outside of the wheel which measures out to be about 47 inches. Then measure how wide around the wheel is, mine is around 4 inches.

The trick to making your cover, is to make it so it has to stretch as big as you can stretch it to be the length you need. Don't worry, you will be able to get it onto the wheel easier than it seems. Your goal is to make it so it is stretched so tight, that it doesn't want to move once you put it on. I was intimidated by this idea.. but once I made it, I realize it is so much easier and more secure than I imagined beforehand.

So now that I know it is around 4 inches, I will make a band that stretches to be about 4 inches wide. And then I will crochet in length that the steering wheel is round.  I will share my pattern with you, just remember to make your own measurements just in case yours needs to be a few inches different than mine. Mine will fit to stretch into place.

Flower Keychain

Flower of Dreams Keychain

I needed something to attach to my keys and help me find them while I dig aimlessly through my purse.
I didn't want to use my ugly keys for the photo so I used one of the “magic keys” I ordered my daughter online. She is waiting patiently to discover a magic door to test her keys on. Her brother Brennan is fascinated by the keys as well, so we have decided to start collecting neat and unique keys. Have fun with this beautiful keychain flower pattern– and just in case you want your own magical keys 😉 my amazon link will be at the bottom of the post.

Stitch11 Square Crochet Washcloth

February 10, 2014 By stitch11 7 Comments

Stitch11 Crochet Square Washlcloth

I have made many other washcloths. Each time, I try to improve them for my own liking.
First I had to learn about the importance of sizing (all purpose cleaning), hook size/holes in the washcloth, and the direction you stitch = the direction it stretches and stretches.
Although I love all of my washcloths from the past… I wanted to make one that is perfect for ME! One that stretches at all direction so it doesn't end up oblong. One that has the right texture for scrubbing syrup off the counters and also gentle enough for my family to use.
Let me know what you think of the free Stitch11 Square Crochet Washcloth pattern! 😀

Mustache Mug Cozy

January 20, 2014 By stitch11 Leave a Comment

Mustache Mug CozyThe Mustache Mug Cozy is a fun project to work up when needing to take a break from those many other WIP's you have been working on.
The free crochet Mug Cozy pattern (designed by Three Beans in a Pod) is perfect for custom orders and gifting. I chose to use this pattern because after testing out a few others, I realized how hard it was to get the fit just right. This pattern however, works up to fit all the coffee cups in my cabinet.
I also had a lot of fun testing out a few mustache crochet patterns. To be honest… this was the only one I found that was not only the perfect shape, but it is crocheted in one piece! The directions are written so well and simple- even the crochet beginner could work one up in no time.  The perfect free Crochet Mustache Pattern is designed by Make and Takes. Be sure to bookmark this one!
For the cozy I used Berroco’s Boboli Lace (in color 4312 – dye lot 7131) and for the mustaches I used Hobby Lobby's “I Love This Yarn”.

I have finally sat down and figured out an even BETTER puppet than ever before 🙂 I made this one with cotton yarn so we can also use it during bath time! I hope you can give some smiles by using this free pattern too!

Free Crochet Coaster Pattern

Crochet Coaster

Last week, my mother and I went YARN SHOPPING!!! While we are admiring all of the beautiful yarns at Hobby Lobby, I asked her what she would like for Mothers Day. My sweet mom says “coasters.” <– This is one thing I love so much about my mom. She could have easily said “a bedspread.”  But she would rather have something simple, small, beautiful, and something that would be stress free for me. So, obviously this free crochet pattern is designed for and inspired by my momma 🙂

Sweet Tart Rug

April 15, 2013 By stitch11 8 Comments

Sweet Tart Rug

Every morning my daughter sits on the floor in front of the TV asking for her cereal. After she takes about 5 bites of her fruit loops she lifts the bowl up to drink the milk- like she has seen me do. It never fails, the milk and cereal go everywhere.
When I was a young girl, I remember going to my Aunt Debbie's house and sitting on little rugs while we ate our Oodles of Noodles (Ramen Noodles). This Sweet Tart Crochet Rug will be my daughters new breakfast rug. I plan to also take it outside when she is drawing on the sidewalk with chalk. Nothing is worse than wearing a dress or shorts and sitting on your knees on the sidewalk while creating your masterpiece. The best part about this rug, its washable, durable, and looks as delicious as Sweet Tarts!

Crochet A Kitchen Gift Set

November 15, 2012 By stitch11 3 Comments

About a week ago my sister, Miranda, from Work At Home Adventures asked me to make her a Potholder and Washcloth set for her to give to some lucky person as a gift. (Yes, anyone who receives a handmade item as a gift is lucky!) My sister supplied the yarn and everything! She brought me one of those big rolls (on a cone) of Peaches and Creme Cotton Yarn from Walmart. I couldn't be any happier with how it turned out….. unless… maybe next time use “I Love this Cotton.” It's what the potholder pattern calls for,

I found this FREE Flower Potholder Pattern through Ravelry!

And you can get the FREE Washcloth Pattern here on Stitch11 🙂

November 6, 2012 By stitch11 4 Comments

Here are a few I made with the little bit of cotton yarn I have left. I will soon be going out to get more yarn! When making these All Purpose Washcloths I wanted to make sure that the size of the holes were not only perfect for in the bath and shower but also for the dishes and house cleaning.

Puffy Scrap Yarn Pot Holder

October 27, 2012 By stitch11 2 Comments

I have been trying to think of ways to use my scrap yarn up. If you are following me on Facebook you know that I am doing my best not to buy yarn until my stash is just about gone. I have been doing pretty good too! And thanks to this new pot holder pattern I have written, I can now get rid of all those small balls of cotton yarn.. and the outcome be beautiful! With this pot holder, since I used the puff stitch, I had no reason to double up.. the puff stitch is thick enough alone. Enjoy this free crochet pattern written by your very own Stitch11!

Simple and Practical Dish Cloth Crochet Pattern

September 13, 2012 By stitch11 31 Comments

This Simple Crochet Dish Cloth is very easy to make and perfect for cleaning. You can even use it as a washcloth depending on your yarn choice. It's a great scrap buster. If you have a ton of scrap yarn, you can whip a bunch of these in no time. Stash them for future use or make them as practical gifts. #crochet #crochetlove #crochetlife #crochetaddict #crochetpattern #crochetinspiration #crochetgoodness #ilovecrochet #crochetgifts #crochet365 #addictedtocrochet #yarnaddict #yarnlove

I have been told many times by many people that I should start making washcloth sets. The thought of washing with a crocheted cotton washcloth did not sound very pleasant. Last week, the hubs and I took the kids to a nearby Canal Days where I  seen many stands selling handmade items. At one of the stands there were loads of crocheted and knitted washcloths. When I picked one up and felt the light way texture I knew instantly that I had to make some DISH CLOTHS. Why I did not think of dish rags instead of washcloths in the first place, I have no idea, but these babies are genius!!    Enjoy this FREE and simple dish cloth pattern!

Beach Bag for Momma

June 21, 2012 By stitch11 38 Comments

After popular demand I decided to write out a free pattern for this beautiful beach bag I designed for my mom.  I tested this out when taking a trip to Altoona, PA. I was able to put 3 beach towels, diapers, wipes, sun screen, Tylenol, 3 changes of clothes for my daughter, a small blanket, and I still had more stretching room.

Scrap Yarn Flowers

April 8, 2012 By stitch11 Leave a Comment

Here are the flowers I passed out for Easter. 😀 For each stem I just used 2 pipe cleaners  and twisted one end into a loop to make my Magic circle. Once the middle of the flower was crocheted, I twisted the loop a little more to make it tighter and closed.  My Daisy pattern works great with this.
