Toddler Sassy Fabric Boot Cuffs

November 15, 2013 By stitch11 4 Comments

Sassy Fabric Boot Cuffs

Since learning how to crochet I have always avoided specialty yarns. I'm not sure if it is intimidating to me or if it is because of the crazy amount of Sashay scarves I've seen during the last year.
This morning I found myself staring at Red Heart's Sashay, Lace, and Fabric Boutique yarns. While the first thought that went through my mind was “I am NOT making a scarf” it quickly turned into “I could do edging on a blanket. Make a diaper cover. Christmas bows. Leg warmers….. BOOT CUFFS!”
So here you go, Toddler Sassy Fabric Boot Cuffs! You could easily change the size by starting with more of fewer FSC. You can also use your favorite boot cuff pattern and follow my stitch directions for the last row. Yes, ONE row of Red Heart Sassy Fabric makes a beautiful fluffy frill that almost any little girl will love. This beautiful yarn works up so soft and light weight!

BobOmb! -with link to free pattern

November 14, 2013 By stitch11 3 Comments

BobOmb

A few days ago I discovered a free pattern for this little guy at The Yarn Box. It was almost like the computer started singing in opera while the screen was glowing brighter and brighter. My step son LOVES to play Mario Bro's! I plan on making him another item with the same theme… just haven't decided exactly what yet.

This free BobOmb pattern is designed and shared by WolfDreamer. Click HERE to view!
The pattern is perfect and VERY easy to follow! It worked up really quick too.

The only thing I did different was crocheting the eyes instead of using felt. To do that I made a magic circle and crocheted {SC, HDC, DC, HDC, SC, HDC, DC, HDC} all into the magic circle. Join to first SC and pull tight.

How would I rate this pattern? 5 gold stars!! I have no complaints at all! I could sit and adore this little BobOmb all day. 🙂

Matching Child Size Slouch and Fingerless Gloves

November 13, 2013 By stitch11 3 Comments

Matching child size slouch and fingerless gloves

With Christmas sneaking up on me I am trying to crochet as much as possible. I have written a list of names, checked it twice… but everything I have made has yet to get a name tag. My current plan (open to change) is to make a lot of basic things and then to focus on more personalized items.
After crocheting the Child Size Slouch Hat, I knew I wanted to make matching fingerless gloves. The greatest thing about these fingerless gloves is that they pair up great with those stretchy small gloves you can get from just about anywhere. They will help protect your children from getting snow up their sleeves while they build their first snowman of the year.
Next on my to do list is to weave in some ends on an Adult Slouch Hat.

Child Size Granny Slouch Hat

November 10, 2013 By stitch11 22 Comments

Child Size Slouch Hat - free Crochet Pattern

After writing the free crochet patterns for the Adult Granny Slouch and the Toddler Granny Slouch, I had many requests for a child size version.
I had forgotten this was even on my to do list until a couple days ago. I have been in somewhat of a crochet rut. The last two things I have created were not very appealing to me. One of those were even worked up using a paid pattern. I was so disappointed! In order to feel like I was accomplishing something, I returned to my handy Adult Granny Slouch pattern… knowing I would be happy with the result. As soon as I finished I knew it was finally time to make the child size.
The Granny slouch hat is great for Fall, Winter, and Spring. The wide band at the bottom of the hat is the ideal width to keep those ears warm and covered.
With Christmas approaching, many of us will be tight on money. One of my favorite things about this hat is that it's even scrap yarn friendly. Have fun with your colors and yarn choices!

Shell and Button Ear Warmer

November 3, 2013 By stitch11 26 Comments

Shell and Button Crochet Ear Warmer - Free Pattern

I designed this free crochet ear warmer pattern to be used as Teen-Adult Christmas gifts.

First, I wanted to use my bulky weight yarn I found at Hobby Lobby (I Love This Bulky). It turned out so beautiful! Once it was finished, I looked over at some of the yarn next to me and realized I may be able to recreate the same colors using scraps of Red Heart Super Saver and I Love This Yarn.

Both ear warmers worked up quickly and the ideal width over the ears. This is now my “Go To” Ear Warmer pattern for either Medium or Bulky weight yarns. Eventually, I will try using double strands of  Caron Simply soft for this!

Toddler Fingerless Gloves

Toddler Fingerless Gloves

I designed this free Fingerless Glove pattern to match Ella's new Kitty Cat Hat. After finishing the first glove she snatched it out of my hand and put it on. She ran to her room and got her Leg Warmers I recently made her and put them on too. Then she came back to me and informed me she was missing a glove. Ha! I had to finish them right away! Making my daughter crochet items is so rewarding – especially when she is begging for me to take pictures 🙂 But today was a little sad for me….realizing how much she has grown up! Where did my baby go?

Toddler Kitty Cat Hat

Free Toddler Kitty Cat Hat Crochet Pattern

My daughter Ella had many ideas for what she wants to be for Halloween. It all started in spring when she said she wanted to be a bunny for Halloween. She kept this idea until a month ago when it was time to really get started on planning out how to put it together. She quickly bounced around ideas like a “pirate bird” until she settled with the idea of a pink cat. PINK CAT? I thought to myself “How will I pull this off without her looking like the Pink Panther. Last thing I want is to take her to see the neighbors and everyone upset her by calling her a panther 😉 But, after drawing up about 20 cat hats she was really drawn to this one.

I thought I was in the clear once I finished the cat face. She was getting so excited. But then I crocheted ears. The cat looked like it was part fox :O I quickly posted a picture in the Facebook crochet group Yartists to ask for opinions and advice. Everyone was so quick to help me figure out what I did wrong. I slept on the ideas I had going through my head and finally got the cat ears perfected.

I want to add more to this costume idea and I will share with you what I come up with along the way. Until then, save this free Toddler Kitty Cat pattern!

Kissing Jewels

Kissing Jewels - free pattern

While brainstorming Christmas gift ideas it can be really hard to decide what project to do next. That is why I am so thankful for the Stitch11 Facebook page! Stitch11 followers gave me some advice and ideas on what type of scarf to make. Big “Thank you!” to each of you. You have also helped me come up with more ideas for the near future.

With this free pattern, the first thing I did was look through my yarn stash. I wanted 3 colors that went well together and yarn that was soft enough to wanna snuggle with. I Love This Yarn never fails me. Another yarn that would work well is Red Heart With Love… but our stores stopped carrying it. Really, you could use any medium- worsted weight yarn with this… and even light weight yarn but with a larger hook, or with a smaller hook and more starting foundation single crochet.

When designing this scarf I wanted something I could fold three times to have the Cowl look, but not limited to that look. The great things about infinity scarves is that there are so many ways to wear them… use you imagination to get the perfect look for you!

Pumpkin Hat Review

October 2, 2013 By stitch11 4 Comments

Newborn Pumpkin Hat Review

A few days ago I discovered the free “Pumpkin Harvest” hat (written by Cathy Kurtz) through a round up on Moogly. This hat is so beautiful that I had no choice but to make it right away. The fact that the pattern said it was designed for babies 6-12 months made it even more irresistible because I have two babies in the family that are currently in that size.

I do have complaints on the pattern… so I will start with those.

1. On ravelry, the designer listed 5 mm crochet hook as the correct hook to use, but when I loaded the free PDF pattern the actual PDF calls for 4.25 mm crochet hook. I went with my gut and used the 5 mm crochet hook and I am so glad I did!!!
2. The pattern says it is for 6-12 month old babies.. but the hat turned out to be the exact measurements for NEWBORN! But, I am ok with it because my husbands cousin had a baby just a couple weeks ago.
3. The vine ended up looking really thin and LONG… longer than the hat! So I cut the amount of chains to make the vine in half and switch the 2 SC in the vine to rotating 2 and 3 HDC.

How many stars do I rate this hat? 4 silver stars. Yeah yeah, I know, I had so many complaints! BUT the hat turned out so beautiful and it really is the perfect NEWBORN pumpkin hat! And the fact that the designer says this was her first crochet hat pattern…. we gotta give her some credit for that!

Artfully Simple Pattern Review

September 29, 2013 By stitch11 2 Comments

Artfully Simple Crochet Review

Last year I met the fellow blogger/designer/artist Moogly. It didn't take long before I noticed how popular some of her patterns are and how wonderful her fans and followers are. Over the course of a few months I was seeing these beautiful scarves all over the internet. Each one was made by the same pattern but each had their own beautiful, unique, and artistic look. So I decided to give it a go with some special yarn I have been holding onto… just waiting for a pattern to scream out at me.

1157657_599045256801061_698239218_nUsing 2 balls of Lion Brands Amazing Yarn “Pink Sands” ( that you can actually get a really good deal on right now through Craftsy)  and a button I went on the hunt for and found at JoAnns Fabric… this scarf turned out beautiful!!! The button shopping was so much fun. I had never discovered how fun it really was until now. I think I might enjoy it just as much as yarn shopping :O

Moogly' s free Artfully Simple Pattern is the perfect pattern for any crocheter, even if your a first time hooker. The pattern is so fun, quick, and simple that it really doesn't require much thinking at all. We all need a break from those patterns that you have to read 20 times to understand the next step… and this was the perfect pattern for that! This scarf is also the ideal project for that yarn you have been hoarding.. you know, the yarn you buy because it is beautiful but do not want to use it and risk ruining the beauty. Yes, this scarf works with the yarn in a way that it only compliments the yarn and shows off its artistic fiber yummyness.  This pattern receives 5 gold stars from me! I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a break, learning crochet, and for you who has been smelling and petting any beautiful artsy yarn on a daily bases.

Ella’s Request -Toddler Dress

September 13, 2013 By stitch11 74 Comments

Are you looking for a spring or summer crochet pattern? Then this adorable toddler dress crochet pattern is for you. #crochet #kidscrochet #crochetaddict #crochetpattern #crochetdress #ilovecrochet #crochetgifts #crochet365 #addictedtocrochet #yarnaddict #yarnlove

Are you looking for a spring or summer crochet pattern? Then this adorable toddler dress crochet pattern is for you.

A few weeks ago I decided to venture out into designing a dress. When I told Ella I was going to make her a dress, she didn't waste any time to tell me the details she was expecting. She wanted the dress to have lots of pink buttons. While drawing up the dress ideas I had, she also told me she didn't want a long dress… she wanted it to be small. Which was really a great idea because she could move freely without worrying about the dress getting caught under her knees.

Ella and I are both thrilled with the outcome of this dress and I am very excited to share it with you for free! This dress fits toddler sizes from 2t-4t. To help you get an idea of how it will fit, my daughter is 2 years old and wears 3t and 4t clothes. Also, be sure to check out the free toddler leg warmer pattern!

The Ninja Turtle Mask is in the theme of the popular Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Crochet a number of these in every color for each of your ninjas. #crochet #crochetlove #crochetlife #crochetaddict #crochetpattern #crochetinspiration #ilovecrochet #crochetgifts #crochet365 #addictedtocrochet #yarnloveDuring this last week, I have tried and tested countless crochet masks. My goal was to make 4 ninja masks in the theme of the TMNT. 9 masks later I finally got it! I love the technique of making this mask and am very proud to say I came up with it. Now that I have made so many (using this pattern I have written out for you) I already have many more ideas for masks that I plan to test out in the upcoming weeks. So find a ninja or superhero near you and create them a mask of their own!Crochet Ninja Mask

Crochet Tree Frog

August 13, 2013 By stitch11 12 Comments

Crochet Tree Frog

My daughter has been begging me to make her so many things… and this frog is one of them. When she lists off everything she wants to add to my list, I will have her sit with me while we look at photos. If she see's something she wants, I can only hope the pattern is free or that I can come up with it myself. With this adorable tree frog I was lucky enough to catch a free pattern! Roman Sock has many free crochet patterns that are very cool like the frog pictured above. It was a lot of work but gets done quickly…. if that makes sense. I felt like an expert crocheter after finishing this one 🙂 Thanks Roman Sock!!

And pictured below is the Elephant Lovey… I will be working up a few more soon and writing the pattern. But before I can get to that, I know a little boy who is having a rough time right now… and I am betting some Ninja Turtles will bring some sunshine to  his life.
